Why should I consider Medical tourism in India?
Among the many Asian countries, India offers medical tourism, and in fact, India is often preferred over the other Asian countries. Is medical tourism appropriate for treating all conditions?
Most medical conditions are appropriate for being treated as a medical tourist. However, an appropriate opinion can be provided on understanding your specific condition and review of your medical records.
What are the accreditation held by Indian hospitals?
Most of the hospitals in India apply the following standards:

National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare providers (NABH): the NABH accreditation consist of an exhaustive healthcare standard for hospitals and healthcare providers. This standard consists of stringent 600 plus objective elements for the hospital to achieve in order to get the NABH accreditation. These standards are divided between patient centered standards and organization centered standards.

JCI accreditation for hospitals: JCI accreditation is considered the gold standard in global health care. Each hospital and health care organization that applies for JCI accreditation takes about two years to prepare. During this time, the entire organization works together to develop and implement the new high quality and patient-safe policies, practices, and procedures that are required to meet the standards.
What are the different kinds of Visa for medical tourists planning to come to India?
The following are the type of visas a medical tourist can avail to:

Medical Visa(MED) - A foreign national can get a medical visa if he/she intends to avail medical treatment only in reputed/recognized specialized hospitals/treatment centers in India. Up to two attendants who are blood relatives are allowed to accompany the patient.

Medical Attendant Visa(MEDX) - up to two attendants having blood relationship with the patient like spouse/ children are allowed to accompany the patient. 
Can I take a companion with me and how much will it cost?
Yes, you are encouraged to take a companion with you. Most often the hotel charges include double occupancy and are likely to include breakfast for two persons. Thus the likely additional charges would be the flight charges, visa charges and additional expenses incurred on tourism, food or beverages.

Can I and my family physician discuss with the treating doctor / hospital?
We very strongly encourage you and your family physician to discuss with the treating doctor. We would not advise you to embark on a course of treatment without discussions from your family doctor. TravaCure Consultants team will arrange for the discussions. (video or audio based on facilities available on either end)
How do I make payments and how is it handled?
TravaCure Consultants is not a medical provider and hence will not accept payments for your medical expenses.
Payments can be accepted at your treating hospital as per hospital policy. Payments might include paying a deposit prior to undergoing any diagnostic tests and/or procedures.
A final bill will be presented to you prior to discharge from the hospital. All other travel and visa expenses should be handled by patient or patient’s attendants
What happens if I have to postpone my plans for medical treatment?
We understand that circumstances can happen and you might be forced to cancel your medical treatment plan. However, since hospitals and other service providers have already made arrangements based on your confirmation, it is likely that they may charge cancellation charges which are not in our control.
You will be presented with a cancellation policy as part of your treatment plan quote that specify what will be charges incurred in case of cancellation or treatment postponement.
What happens if I want to call off my treatment after I go abroad?
In the rare event that you want to call off your treatment, we will support you in doing the same. But there will be associated costs as all the service providers have earmarked the time to service you.

Besides there are costs, which are non-reimbursable like travel, visa, hotel accommodation availed and facilities already rendered.
After reaching India, how do I go about with my trip?
Upon arriving at the airport, our destination manager will pick you from Mumbai airport and will accompany you on every step of the way starting from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave to fly back home.
Your destination manager will also assist you arranging your transportation needs to and from hospital as well as appointment bookings and other related procedures to your treatment.
How long do I need to recover after my treatment?
Prior to your treatment or procedure, you will be informed about the duration of your recuperation and the type of recuperation, keeping in mind the recommendations of the doctor who has treated you.

We will make all arrangements for the same after obtaining your confirmation.
Who will take care of me when I recuperate after my treatment?
TravaCure Consultants can arrange for a companion or assistant upon your request either on a full time or part time basis, based on your requirement, condition and nature of condition.
We can also assist you in arranging for physiotherapy treatments in case your treatment requires post treatment options
